Similar experience to others. I’ve been using the pro version 6 for several years now. Some hiccups but generally good. Recently Gmail stopped working and I had a security message from google saying emclient was not secure enough. (See other comments on this forum).
On contacting Support I was told that this had been ‘fixed’ and to get the fix I had to upgrade and pay for v7. Not providing a free fix for a feature that previously worked is very poor - even Microsoft do this. It’s not good marketing emclient. Just started with (free) eM Client. Problems with GMAIL-account. Google blocks eM Client as a 'not safe enough' application.
Google sent an (automatic) email about this and showed me how to accept (in general) 'not safe enough' applications with Googles remark: 'not recommended' Still doesn't feel good though. But I've got it working now. @ eM Client: What is happening here??
Is eM Client less safe? Pity, this is quite NOT good for your business. New users will stop here and look for some other software.
Hi Rob, eM Client uses oAuth for Google accounts login, which does not need to have access for less secure apps allowed, because through oAuth the program never gets access to your password. If you follow the steps described on our website you should not encounter any trouble with the setup - Also, anything that is not webmail is less secure in server's perspective, but we support Google's most secure login method for external programs, since security is very important to us. If you keep having problems or want to provide more details on this issue, please contact us directly at info@emclient.com with more details on what system and version this happens with so we can look into it, an external review site is not the best place for troubleshooting. Hi I have been using eM client for some time now Everything looked OK to me at first but then I started getting error messages and it started to disconnect itself corrupting the login password requiring a shutdown and restart. I tried the FAQ's to no avail I also tried the online support got me nowhere this is the second so called great free email clients I have tried without success the problem with both of them is that the support system doesn't work it took 3 weeks to get an answer that was no help at all.
Hello Eileen, have you perhaps recently changed your password or security level on your email account? EM Client would not ask for the password again if the previous one was still working, it asks when the login is rejected by your mail server. If you are not sure please send us details on which account this happens with (Gmail, Yahoo, or what provider is it?) and the screenshot of the password prompt to info@emclient.com If you cannot use email to contact us then please use private messages either on Facebook (or Twitter (an external review site is really not the best channel for tech support since a discussion about specific issues cannot be had here (since the site is public and not owned by us). Check Menu>Help>About for the full number. Are there any error messages? Check Menu>Tools>Operations window, the Error tab should contain more details on any problems.
What email account does this happen with? Is it a Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo or any similar type of account?
